Keeping your portfolio organized and up-to-date is essential for anyone who wants to showcase their work effectively. Here are some tips to help you stay on top of things:

  1. Establish a routine: Set aside a specific week or month to review and update your portfolio. A routine will help you stay on track and keep your portfolio current. I recommend Atomic Habits by James Clear to start building life-changing habits.

  2. Use a system: Develop a system for organizing your work, whether by project, medium, or date. This system will make it easier to find specific pieces when you need them. Keeping a digital list on Airtable with links and attachments helps me when referring to it later. I made an Airtable Workspace that includes a form for easy entry.

  3. Keep it simple: Don't overload your portfolio with too many pieces. Choose your best work and present it clearly and concisely. As a hiring leader, I appreciate clear and concise portfolios that are easy to follow.

  4. Get feedback: Ask colleagues or mentors to review your portfolio and provide feedback. A review can help you identify improvement areas and strengthen your portfolio. I recommend reading Radical Candor by Kim Scott to learn how to receive and give candid feedback.

  5. Stay flexible: Your portfolio should be an evolving living document. Be open to making changes and updates as your work and career progress. Last read recommendation, Think Again by Adam Grant to keep yourself open to change.

By following these tips, you can create a portfolio that showcases your talents and helps you achieve your career goals. Good luck!
